How can I communicate with the guest BEFORE their chat begins?

Our Gen 2 chat skins provide a handy and flexible way to communicate with the guest ahead of their chat.  All of the following areas can be optionally customized:

Pre-chat guest communication options

  1. Chat box title. This is often simply a friendly action phrase like "Ask Us" or "Chat with the Library."  You can place images, links, text, or a mix here.
  2. Greeting.  Greetings provide a place for simple messages you'd like all guests to see.  They also help orient the guest to where the chat messages will display.  As the lines of chat increase, the greeting will scroll out of view just like the oldest chat messages.
  3. Chat policy. This icon is absent if a policy is not provided in the chat skin.  If a policy is present, it will display when the guest selects the icon. You can optionally require the guest to acknowledge the policy before the guest can send their first chat message. More info.
  4. Typing instructions.  You can replace the default typing instructions if desired.  However, the default typing instructions are automatically translated into the language that the guest has set in their web browser, and translations are not available for customized versions.

Well, how about AFTER the guest sends their first chat message but before an operator replies?

So glad you asked!  That's a different feature called a concierge auto-reply.  Read all about it here!
