Can I clear the conference room messages?

The conference room stores a limited number of messages on a rolling basis, so messages will eventually disappear as new ones are added. The messages for a conference room are never written to disk and only kept in computer memory so all of the messages in a conference room will disappear from time to time as we (of LibraryH3lp support) do occasional maintenance on the part of the system responsible for generating these messages.

On the main (US), EU, and SG servers, only the 20 most recent messages in each room are kept.

On the CA (Canada) server, the 100 most recent messages in each room are kept.  This is an experimental change as of 2025-09-05.

If you'd like to force a clearing out of messages, there are two different options:

  1. Delete the current conference room in the admin dashboard.  Then create a new room with a slightly-different name.  Voila!  Clean slate.
  2. Force current messages out by sending enough other messages -- for example, 20 lines of dots if you are on the main (US) server.  The old messages will be gone for each room member on next login.
